High School Student Charged With Beating, Whipping Classmate

NEW JERSEY — Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri and Acting Chief Sandy Bainbridge of the Robbinsville Township Police Department reported today that charges have been filed against a 17-year-old male who was involved in a December 5, 2015 incident at Robbinsville High School.

Complaints were signed Tuesday afternoon charging the juvenile with aggravated assault (third degree), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (third degree) and harassment (petty disorderly persons offense).

The complaints charge that on December 5, 2015, while on school property, the juvenile defendant punched the juvenile victim in the chest and used a speed jump rope with ball bearings to whip the victim numerous times. The juvenile will be required to appear in Family Court before a Superior Court judge, however that hearing date has not been determined. Juvenile hearings are not open to the public.

Under state law, the identities of juvenile defendants are protected.
