Grant Parish – A home invasion suspect is fighting for his life after he was shot while burglarizing the home of a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Agent.

Around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday night, the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office (GPSO) called in the Louisiana State Police to investigate the home invasion near Georgetown where the suspect was shot.

State Police say that the armed suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Chad Scott of Pollock, “forcefully entered” the Agent’s home. As Scott “entered the residence, an altercation ensued and the property owner discharged a firearm,” police said.

Scott was struck and sustained critical injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
