PLAINS, Pa. — Three people were killed in a double-murder suicide over a snow shoveling dispute Monday morning. The entire incident was caught on surveillance camera.
The crime occurred in the first block of West Bergh Street in Plains Township.
According to the Luzerne County district attorney’s office, Jeffrey Spaide and his neighbors, Lisa and James Goy, were all clearing snow from their driveways and cars following a snow storm.
The DA says the Goys were shoveling the snow across the street and tossing the snow onto Spaide’s property when the argument ensued. In the video, which has been viewed by Breaking911 staff, the argument quickly escalates and the neighbors begin hurling insults at each other.
As the argument continues, James Goy throws his snow-scraping tool at Spaide. Mr. Goy is heard yelling, “You’re a pussy! Pussy! Pussy. Pussy.” At this point, Spaide walks to his home and retrieves a handgun. As he approaches the victims in the driveway, Goy is heard saying, “Go ahead!” That’s when Spaide opens fire, striking both Lisa and James Goy multiple times.
Both victims fall to the ground before Spaide walks up to them both and fires again at point blank range.
Spaide again retreats to his home and returns with a rifle. The horrific footage shows Spaide aiming the rifle at Lisa Goy’s head before he fires twice more as he says, “You shoulda kept your fucking mouth shut.”
Spaide then turns his attention to James Goy, taunting the already injured victim, “Pussy, huh?!” Spaide fires two more rounds.
Spaide reentered his home, and shortly after fatally shot himself, police say.
The DA’s office says this investigation is now closed.
