A fire that was started by a hoverboard in Tennessee resulted in two teenagers being trapped upstairs.

A 16-year-old girl jumped out of the window from the second floor, her 14-year-old brother climbed down a ladder with his father.

Detectives have concluded that the fire, which destroyed the house complete, was caused by a faulty hoverboar.

This is one of many cases of hoverboard fires currently being investigated worldwide.

The United States Consumer Safety Commission said that it was looking into the gadgets after linking them with over 40 fires.

The two teenagers, whose identities have not been released, were taken to a local hospital with minimal injuries.

Fire Chief Rick White said in a statement: ‘We are fortunate that there were only minor injuries in what was an extremely dangerous fire,’

‘We hope Nashvillians use extreme caution before purchasing or using these hoverboards.’

The hoverboard that resulted in the fire was so badly destroyed that officials will not be able to determine whether it was charging at the time.
