IED Explosion In Moscow Leaves Three Injured

An improvised explosive device that blew up near a Moscow bus stop, has injured at least three people .

“An unknown home-made explosive device has gone off at a public transport stop injuring three people,” police sources told TASS.

Reports of the blast were swiftly confirmed by Moscow police spokesman Andrey Galiakberov, who said that authorities are now looking into the incident.

Emergency crews are helping and assisting the injured on Pokrovka street, which reaches out towards the city’s northeast.

The home-made bomb was thrown at a group of people who had been standing at the bus stop, sources told RIA Novosti.

At least three women sustained injuries in the explosion, Interfax reported.

“Two women were taken to hospital with shrapnel wounds while the third victim suffered minor cuts and was given medical assistance on the spot,” sources told TASS, adding that the injuries of the pair in hospital are not life-threatening.

Police so far regard the incident as an act of hooliganism and are actively investigating the unfolding situation.
