NEVADA — (Press Release / LVMPD) — On October 8, 2016 at 5:34 p.m. during routine inspections at the Clark County Detention Center a LVMPD corrections officer discovered an inmate down in his cell, bleeding from his head.
Medical personnel were summoned; the inmate was transported to UMC Trauma where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated the adult male inmate was housed in a cell with another adult male inmate who was responsible for his injuries.
Evidence found at the scene suggests there was a physical altercation in the cell resulting in the victim’s multiple substantial injuries.
The suspect, identified as 33 year-old Franklin Sharp is currently facing charges for Attempt Grand Larceny and Attempt Burglary. Sharp has been re-booked for one count of Open Murder.
