Three years after the Jerusalem light rail began running it has become an easy and preferred target for Islamic terrorists. After the vehicular attack at train stations Jerusalem Police Chief Moshe Edri has ordered the placement of concrete blocks at the stations in such a way to prevent a vehicle from driving into passengers waiting for a train.
Some of the concrete blocks have already been set into place, just hours following the fatal attack on Route 1.
The blocks will be placed along the route, including on Jaffa Street and Herzl Blvd.
In the Arab violence that followed the attack police report arresting 16 persons involved in attacks against police. Police add that in the past 2.5 weeks, 188 arrests were made in connection to violence in the capital including 117 adults and 71 minors.
