3 Juveniles Arrested After Teen Fatally Shot Inside at Jersey City Restaurant

Three juveniles from Jersey City were recently arrested without incident by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and charged in connection with the murder of Judane Holmes, age 16, of Jersey City.

On Friday, January 4, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., a 14-year-old male was arrested in the area of Virginia Avenue in Jersey City. He has been charged with Murder as Accomplice; Possession of a Weapon; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

On Friday, January 4, 2019, shortly after 12:30 p.m., a 15-year-old male was arrested in the area of Sawmill Road in Alloway Township, New Jersey. He has been charged with Murder as Accomplice; Possession of a Weapon.x

On Monday, January 7, 2019, a 16-year-old male was arrested at the Prosecutor’s Office located at 595 Newark Avenue in Jersey City. He has been charged with Murder; Possession of a Weapon.

 

On Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at 3:25 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 209 Bidwell Avenue in Jersey City–the ‘New US Fried Chicken’ restaurant. Responding Jersey City Police Officers found Holmes at that location with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:35 p.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the Cause of Death to be gunshot wounds and the Manner of Death to be homicide.

A motive for the crime remains under investigation.
