McKinney, Texas — Former NFL running back Darren McFadden was arrested at a Whataburger in McKinney early Monday.

Police were called to the scene just after midnight after the ex-Dallas Cowboy reportedly fell asleep in his car while in the drive-thru lane.

McFadden resisted arrest when he was approached, officers say. He was charged with DWI and resisting arrest.

He has since been released on bond.

The McKinney police department released this statement: “We received a call just after midnight from employees at the Whataburger in the 9000 block of W. University about a man who was asleep in the drive through. The driver was identified as Darren McFadden. He was arrested and taken to the Collin County jail, charged with DWI and resisting arrest.”

McFadden played college football for the University of Arkansas, and was picked fourth overall by the Oakland Raiders in the 2008 NFL Draft.
