Man Arrested After SWAT Standoff In Georgia

Buford, Georgia — A Sunday afternoon SWAT activation has ended peacefully.

On Sunday, April 28, officers assigned to the North Precinct were dispatched to a domestic dispute at around 10:30 AM. The complainant asked for officers to meet him at a convenience store at Thompson Mill Road and Pebblebrook Drive in Buford. He wanted to report an incident involving his daughter and her boyfriend.

While officers were talking with the man about his daughter’s boyfriend, a call came into the 911 Center from the home where the boyfriend lives. The complainant told the 911 call-taker that the suspect/boyfriend was inside the home armed with a gun threatening to shoot law enforcement officers and possibly commit suicide.

Officers were able to get all the family members out of the home. While speaking with the family, they learned that earlier today, the girlfriend was riding in a car while the suspect was driving. He began driving aggressively. She asked to get out of the vehicle, but the suspect refused.

The officers were also told that the suspect was possibly doing drugs. The SWAT Team was activated.

At approximately 1:30 PM, the suspect was arrested by the SWAT Team.

The suspect had at least three active warrants for his arrest. One warrant for was motor vehicle theft. The suspect may face additional charges in reference to today’s incident.
