JUST IN: Police Officer Accused of Strangulation, Domestic Battery

COLUMBUS -- Police at Ohio State University are investigating a 'self-inflicted shooting' that happened at the Wexner Arts Center for Arts Sunday.

INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s (IMPD) Special Investigation Unit arrested an off-duty IMPD police officer Wednesday on allegations of domestic battery.

On Wednesday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers with IMPD were sent to the 6100 block of South Franklin Road reference a disturbance involving allegations of domestic battery.

When it was discovered that one of the involved parties was a current IMPD officer, detectives from IMPD’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) were requested for further investigation.

After being questioned by detectives, Johnn Scott was arrested and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for processing on suspicion of Strangulation, Domestic Battery, and Battery.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review this case for a final charging decision. Scott is a 14-year veteran of IMPD and is currently assigned to Operations (East District).

He has been suspended pending the investigation and potential criminal proceedings.
