JACKSONVILLE — A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officer accused of beating her child with a plastic hanger has been arrested.

The child victim told a school administrator on Oct. 12 that they were struck several times with a clothes hanger after misbehaving at school.

The officer allegedly broke the first clothes hanger, then grabbed a second hanger and continued to discipline the child.

Patrol officer Erica Nicole McRae, a 12-year veteran of the agency, is charged with child abuse with a weapon, a third-degree felony, according to FCN.

The Officer is on leave and has hired an attorney.
