ORLANDO, Florida — After completing its investigation into an August 12, 2014 incident, the Orlando Police Department has terminated one officer and one Sergeant.

The Orlando Police Department investigated Officer Peter Delio and Sergeant Michael Faulkner for violations of department regulations stemming from the treatment of Robert Liese in a holding cell of the Downtown Police Office.

Additional information was brought to the Department’s attention after an initial investigation, and Chief John Mina ordered a second, separate internal investigation.

At the conclusion of that investigation, Sergeant Faulkner was found to have violated two Department regulations: Truthfulness and Treatment of Prisoners. Sergeant Faulkner was terminated, effective today.

Officer Peter Delio was found to have violated one Department regulation: Treatment of Prisoners, and was terminated today as well.

The Orlando Police Department takes all allegations of excessive force or police misconduct seriously.

Officer Delio is facing criminal battery charges, and those proceedings are still ongoing.
