Tennessee Man Shot Dead After Ramming Police Cruisers During Escape Attempt

Morristown, TENNESSEE — TBI Special Agents are investigating the circumstances that led to an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning in Morristown.

Preliminary information indicates that just before 10:00 AM EST, officers with the Morristown Police Department observed a male subject, known to have outstanding warrants, inside a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Hayter Drive. As officers attempted to take the subject into custody, he began driving toward officers in an effort to get away, hitting two police vehicles in the process. During the escalation of events, one of the officers fired his service weapon into the subject’s vehicle, striking him. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A female passenger in the subject’s vehicle was not injured. Additionally, no law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.

The investigation continues.
