LAS VEGAS — (LVMPD) — On September 7, 2016 at 2:20 p.m. LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of East Bonanza Road to investigate reports of a male found deceased in some landscaping near the exit to an apartment complex.

Arriving officers located a deceased adult male on the ground just outside of the complex. The victim had suffered some injuries that appeared suspicious in nature and detectives were requested to respond to the scene.

Through the course of the investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section, detectives located a vehicle in the parking lot of a business nearby that was registered to the victim. The vehicle had damage that indicated it had been involved in a recent collision.

Detectives then located 26-year-old Lahtijera Howard, who was also a registered owner of the vehicle, in the apartment complex where the victim was found.

Howard was in a dating relationship with the victim and they lived together in the complex.

As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested Lahtijera Howard in connection with this case. Howard was transported to the Clark County Detention Center where she faces one count of open murder.

This is the 117th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
