NEW YORK — Fashion designer Kate Spade was found in her Park Avenue apartment in Manhattan Tuesday, according to reports.
A housekeeper made the discovery and called police—Spade reportedly hanged herself with a red scarf from a doorknob.
A suicide note was found at the scene but the contents of the note were not known.

She was the namesake and former co-owner of the designer brand, Kate Spade New York. In 2006, she sold the last of her shares in that company. In 2016, she and her partners officially launched a new fashion brand called Frances Valentine.
Spade married Andy Spade, the brother of actor/comedian David Spade, in 1994. The couple has one child.
