Killer Sentenced to Life for the Brutal Stabbing and Beating Death of Man

BALTIMORE — Dawnta Donnell Baskerville, will spend life behind bars after a judge sentenced him to life plus ten years for the gruesome murder of Laconte Mitchell.

Mitchell had been stabbed 38 times, suffered 15 cutting wounds, and had multiple bruises on his body and extremities. In May of 2015, a Baltimore jury convicted Baskerville of Mitchell’s murder.

On the day of the murder, Baskerville called Mitchell to set up a marijuana purchase, all the while planning to rob him.

Mitchell’s naked body was discovered by a passerby, near the railroad tracks behind the B & O Railroad museum on March 8, 2013 .

In addition to numerous injuries, Mitchell also suffered a deep stab wound to his jugular vein and carotid artery.
