The following contains unedited, graphic footage of the April 4, 2015, shooting of Walter Scott by North Charleston Patrolman 1st Class Michael Thomas Slager taken by an anonymous bystander.

NORTH CHARLESTON, South Carolina — A N. Charleston Police Officer was charged with murder today after a video shows him shooting a man, Walter Scott, in the back.

The video, which starts suddenly, shows Scott and Slager in some kind of close scuffle. Scott then begins to run away. As Scott flees, Slager pulls his gun and shoots.

Officer Slager fired eight rounds from his service weapon, striking Mr. Scott five time in the back, including one in the heart, according to reports.

Officials with SLED provided the police with the video footage of the shooting.

The incident occurred last Saturday, Scott was pulled over for a broken traffic light in West Ashley, South Carolina.

The victim, 50-year-old Walter Scott was pronounced dead. The Officer initially said the suspect wrestled him for his taser before the shooting.

Patrolman Michael Slager, 33 has been arrested, booked and charged with murder.
