NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Attempted homicide suspect Jarel Wilson, 29, wanted for the August 20 shooting of his ex-girlfriend, is deceased. MNPD Domestic Violence detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force were attempting to serve a search warrant at a condominium in the 700 block of Bradburn Village Way based on information that Wilson was at the residence, when they heard a single gunshot from inside at 10:30 a.m.

Members of the police department’s Special Response Team and negotiators were called to respond to the residence. After more than four hours of no contact with Wilson, officers made entry. Wilson was found deceased just before 3 p.m. in the attic with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives swore out an attempted homicide warrant last month alleging that Wilson shot his ex-girlfriend in the head at the victim’s Old Hickory Boulevard apartment. Their 4-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting. Wilson then drove the victim to a hospital where he dropped her off and fled. She continues to recover from her injuries.
