An unknown man ambushed a police cruiser with an ax while the officer was inside the car. It happened around 3 am Saturday morning near the Catholic University of America campus. The officer was responding to a ‘suspicious person’ call when he followed the attacker into an alley. The officer was not hit by the ax but injured his shoulder after a struggle with the suspect, who is still on the loose. The suspect is described as a ‘stocky’ Black male around 6′ tall.
