Man Dies After Being Shot With Bow & Arrow, Suspect Charged With Murder

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — On Monday around 2:30 p.m., Officers responded in the area of the 1800 block of Wilson Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and were flagged down by a homeless man, who admitted that he had fatally shot another transient man with a bow and arrow at a nearby homeless camp.

Officers were directed to the campsite by the suspect. Officers located an unresponsive man with a fatal arrow wound. Medics and Fire personnel pronounced the victim deceased.

Miguel Venegas, a 39-year old homeless man, was booked into jail for murder.

The Hispanic male victim’s information was not being released until the next of kin is notified.

Police did not indicate what led up to the fatal event.
