SEATTLE — Police arrested a 58-year-old man this morning after he fatally stabbed a 44-year-old woman, his ex-wife, at a University District apartment.
Just before 9:00 am North Precinct officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 4500 block of 16th Avenue NE. Officers arrived and located the female victim with life-threatening injuries. The male suspect was being detained by another person in the apartment and was quickly arrested by officers.
Officers provided medical aid for the victim until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived. Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center, but she died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The suspect was transported to the SPD Homicide Unit office where he was interviewed by detectives. Following the interview, the suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of murder.
The identities of those involved were not released and police did not say what led up to the crime.
