Man Caught On Camera Stealing Police Bike, Pilly Police Searching For Suspect

Police in Philadelphia are searching for a man who allegedly stole a police issue bike in Washington Square last week.

Center City District Police responded on January 9 at approximately 1:10 p.m. to a radio call at 21 South 12th Street to in response to a complainant on the fourth floor.

When the officer arrived at the scene, the officer left a police issued Trek bicycle in the lobby and proceeded to the fourth floor of the building to take a report.

While taking the report, authorities say an unknown black male left an elevator and took the bicycle. The bicycle was equipped with OC spray, a CPR mask, and other police equipment.

The suspect was last seen south of 12th Street heading toward Chestnut Street.

Police describe the man as a black male in his late 50s to early 60s, standing at 55’10 to -6’1” and weighing 175 with a thin to medium build. He had a full gray beard and was wearing a tan jacket, grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, tan boots, and a black ski hat.
