Man Steals Ambulance From Maryland Hospital Before Crashing Into 2 Cop Cars: Sheriff

Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland — A man stole an ambulance from a hospital in Westminster Thursday afternoon before hitting two cop cars along with a parked car.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement: On January 6th, 2022, at approximately 12:14PM, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a Baltimore County Fire Department ambulance was stolen from the area of the Emergency Department at Carroll Hospital Center.

Sheriff’s Office Deputies, along with Troopers from the Maryland State Police, responded to the area to search for the vehicle. The ambulance was located on RT 32 in the area of Knox Court but continued South on Rt 32, eventually striking a Maryland State Police vehicle. He then also struck a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, which was then pushed into a parked car. The ambulance eventually stopped near Gamber Fire Company, and at approximately 12:30PM, the suspect was taken into custody. There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.

The driver, who was not the original patient from the Baltimore County ambulance, was initially taken to Carroll Hospital Center to be evaluated. Charges will be pending, and once served, the driver’s information and list of charges will be released.
