Man And Woman Charged With Kidnapping After Chaining 18-Year-Old To Bed In Texas Home, Forcing Her To Have Sex, Officials Say
HOUSTON – Officials in Texas announced on Monday that a couple has been arrested on charges of kidnapping an 18-year-old woman and subjecting her to captivity for at least one month.
According to Harris County Constable Mark Herman, the victim managed to escape on Sunday night. Seizing an opportunity, as the suspects temporarily left the home, the woman made her escape.
Upon receiving a 911 call reporting a woman in distress frantically seeking help within the Foxwood subdivision, deputies from the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office arrived at the scene. The woman told the deputies that she had endured weeks of captivity and had just recently managed to escape.
While awaiting the arrival of medical personnel, the deputies gathered information from the woman regarding the location where she had been held captive. Shortly after, Jose Reyes and Jaqueline Macias were arrested by deputies on charges of kidnapping.
Herman disclosed that the woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation and medical examination. Based on her preliminary statements, it is likely that law enforcement will pursue additional charges against Reyes and Macias.
The victim is from the Houston area and Reyes allegedly exploited her trust and brought her to the home where she was held against her will.
During a press conference, Herman mentioned that thus far, the police have only been able to communicate with the victim. She informed them that she had been bound and confined to a room for roughly one month. She also says she was sexually assaulted by her captors.
“At some point after they basically started holding her against her will, they began sexually assaulting her and other things, just a very, very evil thing,” Herman said.
Reyes and Macias have not yet been interviewed by officers, and the nature of the relationship between the suspects remains unclear.
