Manhattan: Escaped Prisoner From NYPD Custody

The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating William Monge-Betancourt, who escaped from police custody within the confines of the 34th Precinct. The details are as follows:

On Friday, December 27, 2013 at approximately 2200 hours, the suspect, along with another apprehended, was observed by plain clothed officers operating a 2011 Honda Accord at a high rate of speed while traveling in the vicinity of 126th Street and Lexington Avenue, located within the 25th Precinct.  The officers were able to stop the vehicle on the west bound side of the Cross Bronx Expressway in the vicinity of the 181 Street & Haven Avenue exit where they found the suspect and his passenger to be in possession of a quantity of narcotics and marijuana.  While in custody, the suspect wrestled free from an officer, injuring the officers hand, and fled across the Cross Bronx Expressway against oncoming traffic and into an unknown direction.  The other suspect was arrested without further incident.

William Monge-Betancourt is described as being a 23 year old male Hispanic.  He is approximately 5’8″, 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
