On Friday, at 10:20 pm, an officer attended the area of Stokes Road in the city of Brampton in response to an unknown 911 call.
Upon police arrival, contact was made with one of the suspects who immediately opened fire on police. Numerous bullets were fired into the cruiser, one of which struck the officer.
The officer was transported to a local hospital.
A civilian victim was located at the scene with gunshot wounds.
He has been transported to the hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Both the police and civilian victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
A ground search aided by the York Regional Police helicopter did a comprehensive search, including K-9.
Police have taken three suspects into custody and are searching for possible fourth.
The investigation is continuing.
Police are looking for a black male, wearing dark clothing.
Vehicle, gun and one suspect are still outstanding and the suspect is considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. If you observe anyone who appears suspicious call 911.
