“This is an excellent seizure that demonstrates our officers’ dedication to enforcing the CBP mission and protecting the public from illegal narcotics,” said Acting Port Director Cary Frieling. “Their vigilance prevented these narcotics from entering our country and reaching our streets.”

Around 12 p.m., CBP officers encountered Miranda Ferron, a 33-year-old female Canadian citizen, applying for admission to the U.S. at the Lewiston Bridge. During primary inspection, inconsistencies were noticed by the officer. The subject stated she was traveling to purchase Powerball lottery tickets, and was referred for a secondary exam. A CBP canine team alerted to a foosball table in the back of Ferron’s vehicle. A search of the foosball table resulted in the discovery of vacuum-sealed bags. The contents of the bags tested positive for the properties of marijuana. A total of 50 bags weighing approximately 55 pounds were removed from the foosball table.

The marijuana was seized and Ferron was arrested and turned over to the New York State Police.
