35-Car Pileup On I-81 Northbound – Ellisburg, New York

A massive 35-vehicle pileup has been reported on I-81 Northbound in the town of Ellisburg, New York. The area experienced severe weather conditions and heavy lake effect snow. The pileup occurred in southern Jefferson County.

The accident happened at Exit 39 on I-81 in Pierrepont Manor.

A total of 31 cars and 4 tractor-trailers were involved in the accidents, police reported. There were no serious injuries, TWC News reports.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 81 from Exit 37 (Sandy Creek) to Exit 40 in the town of Ellisburg were closed.

School buses were sent out to aid stranded motorists while at least one bus has taken those stranded to the Adams Fire hall. Some motorists were taken to Mannsville Elementary School.

A travel advisory was issued for the area.
