Minneapolis Police Fatally Shoot Man During Stabbing Attack

On April 4th at approximately 5:13 am, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the 2100 block of Minnehaha Avenue after a 9-1-1 caller reported a combative adult male armed with a weapon. The suspect was located in the building.

According to preliminary witness accounts, the officers encountered the suspect, who was armed with a knife. The suspect then ran into a nearby apartment. Officers attempted to speak with the suspect, and after hearing cries for help, forcefully entered the unit and witnessed the suspect stabbing an adult male victim.

The suspect was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he later died. The stabbing victim was also transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, the extent of his injuries are unknown. A Minneapolis Police officer is also at the hospital being treated for a broken bone.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called immediately and the bureau is currently conducting an investigation.
