A monkey has now been placed in quarantine after biting the leg of a four-year-old boy at a cafe in Texas.

The incident took place during Labor day weekend at the Ms. Monkey’s Emporium cafe in League City near Houston.

Customers who go to the venue are able to interact with monkeys after buying something in the shop.

On this unfortunate occasion, the boy and his family visited the store to see the monkey firs-hand during which the animal took a bite of the little boys leg.

The store owner says the monkey’s bite did not break the boy’s skin and that the boy was being aggressive with the animal.

The owner of the business, Robert Williams, is licensed to have three monkeys Sasha, Darwin and Cody on the premises.

The trio quickly became a hit with customers, drawing in crowds of curious families from all over the Houston area.

‘As I bent over, I didn’t know the kid was behind me, but the photos I have show it, and the kid pulled on Cody and Cody wanted to be released so he clamped down on the kid,’ said Williams to ABC 13.

‘I repeatedly had to tell him to get back and stop reaching for the monkeys and I did not notice his mom trying to control him or she was not doing a very good job of it if she was,’ he wrote on his Facebook page.
