Murder Suspect Wanted in Chicago Found Living at Key West Naval Base

Key West, FL – According to Chicago Police investigators, Rutherford-Brown, 21, was wanted for allegedly stabbing a person during an attempted robbery at a party in 2013.

When the victim resisted, Rutherford-Brown and another accomplice are alleged to have stabbed the victim who later died.

On 03/29/2016, Chicago Police detectives issued an arrest warrant charging Rutherford-Brown with First Degree Murder. Rutherford-Brown also goes by the name Jackie Brown.

Rutherford-Brown fled the Chicago area sometime after the 2013 stabbing occurred. The Chicago Police Department enlisted the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in Key West to locate and arrest Rutherford-Brown.

On 04/12/2016, the U.S. Marshals in Chicago sent a lead to the U.S. Marshals in Key West. Deputy Marshals in Key West coordinated with investigators from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), detectives from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and detectives from the Key West Police Department to locate Rutherford-Brown who was believed to be living at an on base housing unit with her spouse on the Naval Base in Key West.

On 04/16/2016, Rutherford-Brown was positively identified as living at the Naval base housing development. Deputy Marshals, NCIS investigators, Monroe County Sheriff’s and Key West Police detectives made entry into a room at the Sigsbee Navy Base Lodge and arrested Rutherford-Brown without incident.

Rutherford-Brown was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center and will be extradited back to Chicago in the coming weeks.
