A named man from California was arrested after he attempted to steal a FedEx delivery truck but was forced to flee on foot as he was unable to drive the truck.
Albert Luna, aged 19, was arrested the day after police were called to a residential street in Coachella, California following reports of a car jacking.
The driver of the delivery vehicle had pulled over to drop off a package and went to the back of the truck to retrieve it.
While he was out of the driver’s seat, the suspect, wearing no clothes, entered the truck and demanded the keys.
The delivery driver then handed over the keys and ran to a nearby house where he called police.
He eventually abandoned the truck and fled the area on foot.
Police launched an appeal to find the man who they described as a Hispanic male, thin, with short hair.
And the next day during a follow-up investigation, they found Luna, who matched the description.
He was arrested at his home and booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio for car jacking.
Luna is facing carjacking charges and is being held on a $60,000 bail.
