New Jersey Man Arrested For Threatening Law Enforcement on Twitter

A 15-year-old former New Smyrna Beach High School student has been arrested on several felony charges after a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office investigation into a bomb threat he made on Twitter revealed plans to commit a mass school shooting.

FREEHOLD, NJ – Investigators have charged a Freehold man with making online threats.

Ronald Charles, 54, of Freehold, is charged with second degree False Public Alarm and fourth degree Contempt.

On Monday, December 3, 2018, an individual utilizing the Twitter handle @NJSuxx posted two alarming text messages threatening law enforcement, saying he wanted to kill himself on Freehold City Hall steps: “My last wish is for a pig to die on the same day I kill myself,” the tweets said. “It would make my death a lot more pleasurable.”

An investigation revealed that the Twitter account was associated with Ronald Charles. Further investigation revealed that Charles contacted a local media outlet to take out an advertisement making similar threats. Pursuant to a prior Court Order, Charles is not allowed to utilize the internet.
