New York Man Accused of Choking EMT Trying To Help Him

Homer, NY – On Sunday, New York State Police at Homer arrested Christopher J. Davis, 48, of Moravia, NY, for the felony of Assault 2nd degree and the misdemeanor of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation.

The arrest occurred after troopers were called to Cortland Regional Medical Center for a complaint that an EMT from the Town of Moravia had been assaulted. An investigation determined that On January 15, at about 1:00 a.m., an ambulance had been summoned to the Betty Blue Bar in the Town of Moravia for a customer with a head injury.

Davis had sustained the injury while at the bar. While being transported to Cortland Regional Medical Center and in the Town of Homer, Davis became combative and choked an EMT causing an injury to his throat. The EMT was treated for his injuries at Cortland Regional Medical Center and released. Davis was arrested upon his release from the hospital several hours later.

Davis was arraigned in the Town of Homer Court and remanded to the Cortland County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 property bond. His next court date in the Town of Homer is on January 24, 2017.
