LONG ISLAND — On Sunday at about 2:02 AM, after a brief pursuit, two Troopers stopped a vehicle, operated by suspect Derrick Douglas of Brentwood, NY.

The Troopers attempted to restrain Douglas, who actively resisted arrest.

While placing Douglas into custody an uninvolved Mercedes struck the rear of a Toyota pickup truck, which then struck a Trooper and the defendants vehicle. A second Trooper was injured while jumping out of the way. Troopers and the defendant sustained non-life-threatening injuries, were treated and released from the hospital.

Douglas was arrested and taken into custody for resisting arrest and drug related charges. Additional charges are pending for Douglas.

The incident took place on the eastbound Southern State Parkway east of N. Fletcher Ave.
