PERT AMBOY, J.J — Pert Amboy’s William McGinnis Middle School is still closed while it undergoes a thorough cleaning and decontamination process after an adult that works there was diagnosed with a rare bacteria.

The middle school closed as a precaution on Friday after the woman was sent home on Thursday. The district said she was diagnosed with an infectious intestinal bacteria known as clostridium difficile, which causes infectious diarrhea.

The district did not release the employees name or give any information regarding her job at the school. It was unclear whether the employee had any close contact with children.

Cleanup crews arrived at the school on Monday morning to completely disinfect the building.

Classes are scheduled to resume on Thursday.
