LAKE PARK, FLA. — Police say a father will not be charged in the shooting death of an attempted car-jacker.

Police say the victim had arrived at the Barber shop to pick up his 12-year-old son. He parked the car on the edge of the curb, leaving it running with his daughter, 5, in the back seat. His intention was too quickly pick up the son and return to the car when he saw the suspect, Terrence Wilson Jr., open the driver side door, get in and attempt to drive away.

The victim yelled to the suspect to ‘STOP!’ As the suspect was attempting to drive away, the victim, in fear of his daughter’s safety, discharged his firearm and struck Wilson.

He immediately opened the passenger side door, checking for his daughter’s safety and steered the car to its final rest.

No charges will be filed against the unidentified victim. The victim has a concealed weapons permit.
