Video footage shows at least three rooms were lit up at the top of the Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang

Workers began building the pyramid-shaped hotel nearly 30 years ago.

Work was abandoned in 1992, and has not been improved upon since 2011 when it was coated in £111 million glass panes.

Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris was reportedly flown in to ‘discuss the future’ of the hotel, according to the Daily Star.

Sawiris is also CEO of Orascom, who operate North Korea’s mobile network, and worked on the tower in 2008.

The anonymous visitor said: “Apparently he’s there for a visit to the Ryugyong to see about working on that again.”

The Ryugyong Hotel is an unfinished 105-story pyramid-shaped skyscraper in Pyongyang, North Korea.

Its name is also one of the historical names for Pyongyang. The building is also known as the 105 Building, a reference to its number of floors.
