CALIFORNIA — Los Angeles County is getting pummeled by flash flooding.

Heavy rain & life threatening flooding is occurring in the Antelope Valley in the vicinity of Leona Valley, Quartz Hill & W Palmdale.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m. local time. In some areas, near Fairmont Dam and Leona Valley, the rai is falling at a rate of 4-6 inches per hour.

Three Paramedic helicopters are conducting rescue operations in the Antelope Valley area.

From NBC-LA: Crews were working to free vehicles that were trapped in mud from flash flooding in Castaic.

The mudslides forced the closure of a stretch of Lake Hughes Road north of Castaic due to the downpour in the area and all northbound lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway are blocked by flooding near Fort Tejon north of Gorman, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Los Angeles County Fire Department rescue crews responded to a report of some people trapped in a vehicle in the area, but they were found safe.

Crews are continuing to survey the area.
