FARMINGDALE, NY — A Catholic Priest was arrested and charged early Wednesday morning for possession of crack cocaine.
According to police, 63-year-old Robert Lubrano was observed entering a motel room and after an investigation was placed under arrest without incident. A small white/yellowish rock like substance believed to be crack cocaine and a sliver colored metal pipe with what appeared to be crack cocaine residue was recovered at the scene.
Lubrano, a Roman Catholic Priest, is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th and 7th Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, January 06.
According to reports, Lubrano told investigators he’s been smoking crack cocaine since his sister was murdered. Patricia Ward was decapitated by her son.
From KFVS: “Ward was a beloved associate professor at Farmingdale State College who, police say, was murdered by her mentally ill son in October 2014.
Detectives say Derek Ward stabbed and decapitated his mother inside her apartment, then dragged her downstairs and out into the street, where he left her. About a half-hour later, police said Derek Ward jumped in front of an Long Island Double R train and killed himself.”
Lubrano has not been assigned to a specific parish for the past number of years. He is out on bail.
