NY Task Force-1 Comprised of NYPD & FDNY Personnel Depart For Texas

An elite team of more than 100 New York City Police Department (NYPD) and Fire Department of New York (FDNY) personnel departed early Sunday morning from Queens to assist in the Houston area of Texas being impact by Hurricane Harvey. The Urban Search and Rescue New York Task Force-1 team includes more than 30 Emergency Service Unit officers as well as K9 officers.

The convoy includes rescue equipment, boats, dry suits, and food supplies. The team will be assisting local emergency personnel with relocating stranded people as well as emergency rescue when necessary.

“After Superstorm Sandy, so many cities stepped up to help our people. We’ll do all we can to help those affected by this storm,” said Mayor de Blasio.
