In a January 12 letter from the NYPD’s Lieutenants Benevolent Association (LBA), New York City sheriffs called upon Mayor Bill de Blasio to ensure that the New York State Penal Law will be aggressively prosecuted in the event of resisting arrest.

Other demands included “an assurance from the New York City Corporation Council to vigorously defend baseless law suits filed against the City pertaining to allegations of police misconduct.”

The letter also requested “a vested interest by New York City legislators in relation to Tier III Accidental Disability pension reform.”

These requests from the LBA come following the Staten Island Grand Jury’s decision not to indict Police Officer Daniel Pantalco in the death of Eric Garner.
