NEW YORK — (NYPD News) — NYPD Harbor cops reunited a lost dog with its owner in Brooklyn on Friday after rescuing him from the waters of Gravesend Bay.

The Harbor Unit responded to a 911 call of a dog swimming in the waters of the Bay. NYPD Scuba Unit divers Detective Markian Kopystianskyj and Police Officer Damien Drisco were deployed from Scuba Launch 8, captained by Detective William Devine.

They found the white German shepherd swimming about half mile from shore where they pulled him into their boat.

Once on shore, the officers looked at social media for anyone who reported a missing dog. They found a match and the pooch was identified Chase, a 1-year-old. Chase is now back at home with his loving family.
