NEW YORK — Two NYPD Emergency Service officers saved a teenager who was threatening to jump from the Manhattan Bridge Saturday afternoon. Detective John DiGregorio and Officer Michael Urbanek responded to a 911 call of a man on the bridge and spotted the teen standing on the wrought iron fence, holding the chain-link fence while leaning back.

The officers began to talk to the teenager and developed a connection with him. The teen expressed his concerns to the officers, who promised they would get him the help he needed.

Detective DiGregorio offered to climb out to where the teen was standing to continue talking and help bring him to safety, but the distraught teen climbed back to where the officers could secure him.
