NYPD Police Involved Shooting (Bronx)

NYPD / News Release: On Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., a sergeant and police officer in plainclothes assigned to Police Service Area 7 Anti-Crime unit were on patrol in the vicinity of East 164th Street and Rev. James Polite Ave in the confines of the 41st Precinct. As the officers were driving in their unmarked auto, they observed several individuals in an altercation coming out of 862 East 164th Street.

Upon approaching the individuals to further investigate the incident, a 19-year-old male pointed a firearm and fired shots in the direction of the officers.

The officers discharged their firearms striking the male individual. Three of the males, including the armed individual, fled the scene on foot at which time the officers pursued the suspects, subsequently apprehending two individuals inside an apartment at 911 East 165th Street. A 19-year-male who sustained a graze wound to the right hip and left knee was removed to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition and the 24-year-old male was not injured.

A firearm was recovered at the location. The officers were taken to Jacobi Hospital for observation. The investigation is ongoing by NYPD’s Force Investigation Division.
