Detectives with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Hilltown Township Police Department arrested a Philadelphia man on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, for the 2013 Hilltown Township murder of Joseph Canazaro. Thomas Delgado, 50, was arraigned on Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Maggie Snow with criminal homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, and related charges. He was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility and denied bail.

Bucks County and Hilltown Detectives were able to identify Delgado as one of the two men who broke into Canazaro’s home. During the home invasion robbery, police say the men tied up Canazaro, his fiancee, and his juvenile son and ransacked the home, taking guns, money, jewelry, and other items. While inside the home, the female was sexually assaulted. The woman and the boy managed to escape, and she called 911. When police arrived, they found Canazaro, 48, dead inside the garage.

An autopsy concluded the cause of death was multiple stab wounds, and the manner of death was homicide. Police say the robbers took Canazaro’s truck, which was later recovered at the Quakertown Plaza Shopping Center. A forensic examination of evidence recovered from the crime scene and Canazaro’s stolen truck revealed a match for Delgado.

“It would be wrong to call this a cold case. These detectives have spent more than a decade seeking justice for these victims,” District Attorney Jen Schorn said. “Like they always do, detectives never relented in the pursuit for justice, and now, we are able to announce an arrest.” “We are continuing to investigate this murder and are asking for the public’s help for information,” she said.
