Following the identification of a possible brake fluid leak that could lead to a fire, General Motors has issued a recall for specific Chevrolet Silverado medium-duty trucks produced in 2019 or later.

According to the documents published by US safety regulators on Saturday, the recall covers approximately 40,428 vehicles, including the 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD models manufactured between 2019 and 2023.

The brake pressure sensor assembly installed in these vehicles may allow brake fluid to leak and create a short circuit, increasing the risk of fire while the vehicle is in motion or parked. GM recommends that owners of potentially affected models park their vehicles outside and away from buildings until the recall repair is completed. The previous brake design was used on models produced before 2019.

GM has stated that no injuries related to the issue have been reported so far.
