A 15-year-old Philadelphia boy was shot 17 times in a double shooting Monday, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Officials say the boy is alive and is in stable condition.

The teen suffered gunshot wounds throughout his body. Another boy, also 15, was struck once in the leg.

The gunfire broke out in the 1000 block of Cambridge Street around 8:30 p.m. local time. The teens ran into a nearby house where the residents helped them, reports say.

Investigators found 20 shell casings at the scene.

No arrests have been made and a potential motive was unclear. The investigation is ongoing.
