Two Chicago Police officers were listed in serious but stable condition, Sunday morning, after their patrol car was involved in a serious crash.
The two officers were driving a marked SUV heading eastbound on Irving Park in the Northwest Side Portage Park neighborhood, when they were struck by a vehicle heading southbound on Melvina just before Midnight on Saturday night. The crash caused the police car to partially overturn and slam into a light pole – which prevented it from totally flipping over. The patrol car had its lights and sirens on at the time, as it was responding to an emergency call to assist another officer.
The driver of the car was issued a summons for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
